Aladdin Movie Review

June 07, 2019 0 Comments
My family and I decided to see Aladdin at the drive-in. It was a little dark so I recommend a normal movie going experience as the drive in is better for bright films. I was a little hesitant because of the reviews the film has received but the movie have had a 5% and I'd still go see it. I was that excited and it did not disappoint!

Aladdin is as charming as the original and stays very true to some of the viewers' favorite scenes from the classic. Artistically, I want to give this film gushing reviews. My imagination could not have made up the fantastic elements this film puts on screen. The palace, the wardrobe, the city, it's all so glamorous and left '96 me still longing for a turquoise dress and a tiger.

I loved "A Whole New World" and the romance between Jasmine and Aladdin. The on screen chemistry was truly magical. Disney does a wonderful job sucking you in and making you a part of each number. The scenery as they fly on the magic carpet and stare longingly at one another will make any age viewer's heart melt.

Most of the film's changes came to Jasmine, saving her from an era of powerless women and giving her a choice back. I don't want to give too much of this away, but the added song "Speechless" shows how powerful Jasmine becomes in this movie. It's more than just her wanting to marry for love, she wants to save her Kingdom from treachery on her own. I love the modifications to her outfits to make her less sultry but still elegant and stunning.

The Genie's "Friend Like Me" was funny and full of energy. Will Smith nailed his role and boy did he have some big shoes to fill! He was the cherry on top for this film! Every time he appears on screen, he is caring, funny, witty, and entertaining!

Overall, this is a film all ages can enjoy. The costumes, sets, dance numbers, and characters will fill your Disney heart with love and nostalgia. I can't wait for you to see it!

Cheesy Popcorn

October 07, 2017 1 Comments
For years I have made cheesy popcorn by remicrowaving popcorn in the microwave and sprinkling cheese in layers. It is delicious, but the microwave loses it's texture. Let's face it, no one likes soggy popcorn. I've started making it this way and wow! This recipe will make anyone love popcorn and turn movie night into your family's favorite night. Enjoy!

Halloween Movies You Must Watch!

October 01, 2017 1 Comments

Don't you just love Halloween? My favorite time of year is fall. Grab some popcorn and get some comfy socks! Here's a list of my favorite Halloween movies to watch with the family.

1) Hocus Pocus - This is my favorite Halloween movie. It's a great one for the family, perfect dose of comedy and a little bit of horror without being too scary. Now you can tell your kids they better behave or you'll get the Sanderson sisters to come over!

2) The Nightmare Before Christmas - A classic twist on the holidays that is a must watch for all families. The musical numbers makes this a real winner with the kids but Tim Burton still tugs at the hearts of everyone watching the film, am I right?

3) Gremlins - I personally love this movie for Halloween because it's a little bit scary, but still kid friendly. I think a lot of the "scary" stuff goes right above the little one's heads but if they truly thought about this film as an adult -- yikes!

4) Beetlejuice - If you say Beetlejuice three times, this pretty weird looking guy shows up! I love the giggles this one gives the family after we watch it. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

5) The Corpse Bride - Singing and dancing in the underworld makes this one a huge hit. It is pretty dark and quirky, making it another perfect Halloween movie for you and the kids.

6) Casper - This is such a warm, heart felt movie about a good ghost. This has jokes for all ages and a great story of friendship and love. Halloween would not be the same without Casper the Friendly Ghost!

7) Hotel Transylvania - This is a great coming of age story involving Dracula. This one screams kid friendly Halloween movie. This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies!

8) The Adam's Family - This one is on Netflix this year and was one of the first Halloween movies we watched! I started a little early, hehe! This movie is creepy and adorable at the same time. Who doesn't love a little family friendly goth?!

9) Monster House - To me this is the scariest one on the list so if you have an easily frightened child, I would leave this one out. It is animated, but it has that loud, jumping out of your seat effect every now and then. I love that effect but it's not for everyone.

10) It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - This one isn't higher up on the list simply because it's only 25 minutes long. I usually put this on the day of Halloween or while I'm decorating. It's a great trick-or-treat movie if you're answering the door, too!
